Chinese man buys 99 iPhones to propose to girlfriend, who says no
The latest technology did not tug at this woman’s heartstrings.
A Chinese Romeo tried to woo the love-of-his-life into tying the knot by proposing with 99 new iPhone 6s.
But the Guangzhou computer programmer’s costly $82,000 stunt seriously backfired when his sweetheart turned him down, reports The Nan Fang.
The unidentified man laid down the gadgets in the shape of a heart shape.
Colleagues then surrounded the couple as the man gave his companion a huge bunch of flowers and nervously popped the question.
But he was left red-faced after his girlfriend turned him down.
And, to add insult to injury, photographs of the failed proposition were then posted on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, which went viral.
It’s not known what will now happen to the smartphones, which The Nan Fang reports would have cost more than two years’ salary.
But with demand for the new iPhone high in China, it’s believed that the rejected romancer shouldn’t have too much trouble in selling them online.
